It all started 30 years ago when I was a self-conscious young man. I was always concerned with being clean and hygienic. I found that a lot of products were great for keeping up with self-hygiene except for in our taboo areas. We have deodorant for our armpits, toothpaste for our breath, soap for our skin, and shampoo for our hair but nothing for our butt and private parts. I never understood this, it never made sense to me.
I tried every product from talcum powder to good smelling skin lotion to regular deodorant. They would work for a half-hour to 45 minutes and then the scent would be gone. There had to be a solution out there. Since that day I always had this idea to make a product that would last all day and would create a protective barrier.
In the early stages of telling people my idea, I always found that people would agree that it is an issue but never wanted to talk about it. That is when I realized that it was a taboo subject for most people and the name of TABBOO was born.
I went to my good friend Rick and told him about my idea, the name, the marketing, the commercials I would come up with, and how it would work. He instantly LOVED the idea and wanted to partner with me and support my dream and vision.
I’ve suffered with addiction in the past, and at the time of my conversation with Rick, I was clean for a couple of years. Subsequently, I relapsed, but quickly got my life realigned, went back to Rick and told him that I’m ready to stay clean forever, one day at a time–so let’s do this! The best part about this story is he believed in me and he saw it in my eyes that he knew I meant business. We are both now in recovery and our goal is to give back and help others that also suffer with addiction. One day we would like to open up a sober house that is affordable to everyone including suffering homeless addicts.
